Bill C-64 (Wreck and Salvage) was given Royal Assent on February 28, 2019, becoming law as 2019, c. 1, by way of formal designation. The official name is the Wrecked, Abandoned or Hazardous Vessels Act (our own abbreviation: WAHVA).
WAHVA is not yet in force, however, as it provides for coming-into-force (cif) subsequently on a day or days to be fixed by Cabinet order; there may be two phases for this, with three sections (authorization to a person to take possession, and amendments in relation to the Navigation Protection Act) hived off for a possible different date from the rest.
There is no indication as yet concerning the likely cif date(s).
